Something I've been trying to figure how to do, at first without variable if possible. What triggers do you use to count number of won rounds for the char within an Arcade match? i'm trying to run actions only when a char has won one round and is about to win the 2nd (when P2 life reaches 0 etc). But if the player doesnt win round 1, then round 3 has to be that time.

This is most of what you need to set up and start building your own personal MUGEN roster. But there are a few things that I should note. Below the [ExtraStages] in the select.def is [Options]. [Options] controls the order of who appears in Arcade Mode. To make a character appear later in Arcade Mode, simply add ",order = x" with x being a 1-9 number, 1 appearing first, then 2, etc. Say I want to fight a few level 1 characters then fight a level 2 as a boss. Everyone is level 1 automatically, so just add ,order = 2 to your boss, for this example, I will use Magneto. Make sure you change your values under [Options] to this

arcade.maxmatches = 3,1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0

This simply means that you fight 3 level 1 characters, then one level 2 car. It should look like this.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------
[Characters]

;Row1
storm
Blackheart
Cyclops
JinSaotome
Magneto, order = 2

;Row2
Psylocke
CharName[002]
CharName[003]
CharName[004]
CharName[005]

And with your [Options], Magneto should now appear after you beat 3 randomly selected characters.

And that's about it! Congratulations! Now go amaze your friends with your fighting game skill!

the easiest way o add characters is to use a program called VSelect. You just drag and drop the .def file of each character into your preferred select screen, save and you're done.

How Lang would perform against them is debatable, though I agree that more than likely, they'd win (annihilate is a stretch). As far as mimicking other fighting styles, the only instance like this I can remember is when he fought Shoryu, but it's not like he just picked it up mid-fight. IIRC after he fought him the first time, Mugen specifically trained his body so that he would be able to replicate that same chi technique (and he never used it again). Even then, his win is cheapened by the fact that he used a hidden blade. Sara let him win, plain and simple. He couldn't match up to Kariya either. We can call him vs Jin a stalemate, but really it was inconclusive due to the shop burning down and it's always been my opinion that if they finished a fight, Jin would win eventually.

In Survival mode, there is an endless stream of opponents, fighting either one by one or two in a Simul match. The objective is to beat as many opponents as possible, with the game ending when the player's character or team is defeated, depending on the number of combatants that the player encounters in that custom version of the game. The player can choose to play alone or in Simul or Turns mode, though Single Player mode gives the highest life and life recovered at the end of each round won. Survival mode was the last addition done to the engine. As such, it is not present in any of the DOS versions of M.U.G.E.N.

M.U.G.E.N was initially created for MS-DOS by a group of students from the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, including Darren Lo, Jim Simpson, and Krian Upatkoon.[4][5] The first public beta release launched on July 27, 1999.[6] Development of the DOS version ceased when Elecbyte switched to the Linux platform in November 2001.[7] The meaning of "mugen" (無限) in Japanese, "unlimited" or "infinite", may have influenced the naming.

Due to the customizable nature of the game engine, no two versions of M.U.G.E.N are the same. Each person is encouraged to download their own copy of the game engine and to create or add content to match their personal preference. Groups of M.U.G.E.N authors will often collaborate to produce a full game using the engine. These full games are available at a variety of quality levels and are released under the general M.U.G.E.N license. "Under this license, permission is granted to use the M.U.G.E.N Environment free of charge for non-commercial purposes... Elecbyte provides a M.U.G.E.N redistributable package, containing a minimal M.U.G.E.N Environment, that may be included with third party content for redistribution."[21]

M.U.G.E.N later expanded into a wide variety of teams and communities such as Mugen Fighters Guild, Mugen Infantry, Infinity Mugen Team, RandomSelect, TheHiddenElect, Mugen Free For All, Unleaded Mugen, Mugen Archive, MugenBR, and Pao de Mugen, among many others. Community in-groups and out-groups formed, with websites often being categorized into factions of "creators" who made content for the engine as artists and programmers, and "warehousers" who sought instead to redistribute others' content for the sake of archival and fair use. M.U.G.E.N also gained more mainstream press with the creation of the Twitch live stream called Salty's Dream Cast Casino (SaltyBet), where viewers can bet with fake money on CPU matches played using the engine.[22]

For those who don't know there is a Mugen edition of MvC2 for the PC with just about everything in it. Mugen is legal BTW. There is also a bunch of other mugen games out also(Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter etc...). Although it is fan made it uses the same sprites from the game etc...

Marvel vs. Capcom: Maximum is a fan-made fighting game, created and released by Pizzahighfive using the MUGEN development engine. The game features 4v4 tag-team gameplay with assists, including 158 playable characters from the Marvel and Capcom franchises. There are also brand new stages and the option to play online using Parsec and Discord match-making.New characters include Mega Man X, Regina, Scream, Leon, Strider Hien, Lilith and many more.
