to Midlands Clergy
The Midlands clericus gathered at St. Michael & All Angels on September 11th.  There were 11 clergy present.  We opened with Morning Prayer in the Whitehead Chapel.  In our check-in time, clergy shared the following:
  • St. Michael & All Angels is becoming a "green congregation."  Contact Deacon Margaret Jennings-Todd for information about this.
  • The Diocesan Deacons have a Facebook page!  Look for: EDUSC Deacon's Page
  • Pumpkin sales at St. Simon & St. Jude begin on October 4th - open every day until they are gone!
  • St. John's Shandon has hired an Interim for Family Ministries - Madeleine Smith - a Heathwood Hall graduate, former Gravatt employee, and holder of a Bachelor's degree in Journalism
  • Rev. Susan Wight joined us - she has retired and is now part of the Midlands Convocation.  She is available for supply work and teaching
  • Rev. Susan Prinz will be attending a workshop on the Gospel of Mark at the Duncan Gray Center in Mississippi in October, led by VTS Professor, Rev. Dr. Kathy Grieb
  • The LARCUM Bishop's dialogue is on October 13th.  See attached flyer
  • Rev. James Barnhill will lead Grace Camden on its annual mission trip to Wash, NC (the "Inner Banks")
  • Sister Joan Chittister will speak at the Law School Auditorium on October 28th at 6pm.  This is part of the effort to establish a chair in Catholic Theology at USC
  • Trinity Cathedral is now holding daily Morning (8am) and Evening (5:30pm) Prayer in Seibels Chapel, and Choral Evensong on Sundays at 4pm.
We also discussed the SOM (new draft unavailable as of the 11th) and nominations and Convention.

Upcoming meetings:  September 21st at 3pm  Midlands Convocation at St. Simon & St. Jude, 1110 Kinley Rd. Irmo
