LR 8.3.1 and MIDI2LR 3.2.2.0 : crash/don't reconize controller every time i switch to another app

Hello,

I use MIDI2Lr and i'm very happy, no, i WAS very happy with that.

Since the last version (of LR or MIDI2LR i don't know), every time i open LR, the controller is ok and works.

But after switching on another app, or just after few minutes...nothing.

LR is still working (but without controller)
MIDI2Lr seems to work (window indicates "connected to LR")
My controller is still connected (LaunchControl from Novation)

I have to stop everything (LR + MIDI2LR), restart, and it works for few minutes.

Impossible to continue a professional work in this condition.

I'm alone ?

Someone got a solution ?

What do you mean by "crash"? Does the app close suddenly?

Could you post your MIDI2LR.log file for the last run that crashed? The file is in %appdata%\MIDI2LR directory in windows and ~/Library/Logs/MIDI2LR in MacOS.

Do you have other applications that use the MIDI controller? What application are you switching to/from?

Also, have you tried pressing the Rescan MIDI devices button on the app?

Crash is not the right word, you're right.

I mean that the app is open, seems to work, but nothing change. I can touch everything on the controller, the app (not close) still do nothing.

I don't have other applications that use the controller

I switch to Photoshop, Chrome or Spotify. But even i don't switch, the app stop working after few minutes

Yes ! I try to rescan Midi devices, but nothing. I have to stop LR if i want to use the controller for few minutes only

It looks like your MIDI controller is intermittently losing its connection with the computer. There are a number of times where MIDI2LR asks the operating system for a list of MIDI controllers and the operating system replies that there are none.

The first thing to do is to replace your USB cable (they can be bad) to check if that's the issue, and perhaps change which port you plug into.

Hi Edouard,

Probably Rory found the issue already, but since it won't take you much time, did you try to uninstall MIDI2LR (or install a previous version) and install again?

I just tried the latest version, got few issues with some shortcuts ("g" and " ` ").

At first I was receiving error messages, then, after a while, pressing the corresponding buttons didn't do anything at all (though the other inputs were otherwise still working).

I did install a previous working version (3.1.0.4), then again the latest (3.2.2.0).

Now it works as if there has never been a problem. Go figure.

I changed the cable and now i'll test it.

Now it works properly...but let's wait a bit more to see what's happen.

If it's ok, i'll come back to close the subject.

@Max : Thanks a lot too ! But i already tried to uninstall and install again. If the problem don't come from the cable, i'll try again.

MIDI2LR is the best software i discover for professionnal photographer like me !
