I upgraded to the newest version of LR a couple of days ago and Midi2LR doesn´t connect to Lightroom anymore.
I also tried several releases of Midi2LR, hoping this was a bug in one of the versions, but apparently this happens on all versions.

Is there any way to find out why Midi2LR won´t connect to Lightroom? Or is this a known bug and is there a solution on the way?

Unfortunately, I rely heavily on Midi2LR and this really slows down my workflow a lot :(

Thanks for helping out!

I'm also having this issue.

Additionally if Midi2LR is running in the background and not connecting it turns Lightroom into a memory hog that uses about 30% of my CPU just sitting idle. Is this happening to you too?

Actually, I didn´t check that but I didn´t have the feeling that something would slow down my system.
Btw: I´m using Mac - I forgot to mention that in my previous post.

Is there any solution for this?
I´m already thinking about reinstalling my whole system, just to get this going. Anybody who has / had the same problem and found a solution?
I would really appreciate your help!

I just tried version 2.9.0.3 but the problem remains the same.
The connection to Lightroom is not possible, although Midi2LR seems to recognize the Behringer xTouch Mini and movement of knobs and the slider.

Any hints?

Could you get the information from Lightroom at Files -> Plugin Extras -> MIDI2LR -> System Information?

I haven't changed anything in the connection between the plugin and the app in quite some time, so I wonder if something else has changed on your system. Also, have you tried the following from the FAQ?

  1. App can't connect to Lightroom. Before trying to debug this, check your Lightroom version. MIDI2LR only runs on Lightroom 6/CC or later. Then, check your firewall. MIDI2LR uses ports 58763 and 58764 on localhost (127.0.0.1) to communicate between the application and the plugin.

Nothing else changed, except for the usual updates of MacOS and the update to the newer version of LR.
The firewall is disabled, so that shouldn´t be a problem either.
I have read here and there that people had similar problems in the past, and I´m wondering what else could be the problem or how I could figure out why this happens on my end?

Well, first update to version 2.9.0.3. 2.9.0.2 was only up for a few minutes before I realized the problem with a lua error.

I'm getting a lot of messages from Mac users now about failure to connect and I'm still wondering if there is a new security setting in High Sierra that is causing this. Are you also getting any messages when you start Lightroom about 'send' being nil?

Well, that is quite funny. I had downloaded and installed the newest version 2.9.0.3.
The installer is named 2.9.0.3 and it installs the 2.9.0.3 version apperently, I even tried to install it into another directory and add the plugin manually, however, in the plugin manager, only 2.9.0.2 still appears.

I´m a little confused now ;)

I don´t get the "send" being nil message anymore, I did get it however a few days ago when I tried the 2.8. version.
When I disbale the plugin now and try to enable it again, an error occurs and can be saved into a text file (see below).

Error in the diagnostics log:

ok, go into lightroom's plugin manager and delete MIDI2LR. Close Lightroom. Install MIDI2LR version 2.9.0.3 in the directory in which you had the prior version installed. Open Lightroom, open the plugin manager, and add MIDI2LR again. See if that does it. Also, if you could reply with the information in Files -> Plugin extras ->  MIDI2LR -> system information, that would help.

Sorry, that didn´t work as well. I also tried to add it to several different directories, just in case - but none worked :(

OOOOPS. I didn't update the version number in the plugin. Sorry. I've updated the files in release 2.9.0.3 and it's fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience. I was doing things too fast this morning with the multiple releases.

ok, now the plugin manager shows version 2.9.0.3 - so that works ;)
However, it still can´t connect to LR.
And if I reload the module in the plugin manager, it still shows the following error message:

Plug-in error log for plug-in at: /Users/Nadar/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules/MIDI2LR.lrplugin

**** Error 1

As you can see, I changed the language in LR back to German. Someone else mentioned a couple of days ago that he had a similar problem and changed the language from german to english and it worked then. However, it didn´t help in my case :(

Hey Rory Jaffe :)

I was now able to look further into this.
I have been doing a portscan, and it seems like Midi2LR doesn´t even open a port. The firewall in MacOS is disabled.
Does Midi2LR open this ports 58763 and 58764 on localhost (127.0.0.1) or is Lightroom supposed to do that?

Any idea how I could convince Midi2LR to open this ports?

Both Lightroom and MIDI2LR open those ports.

One possibility--right after starting Lightroom, check macos System Preferences -> Security & Privacy. Do you have a message on there about a program being blocked?

No, there is no message about a program being blocked.
When I do a fresh install of Midi2LR, MacOS asks me if I want to allow access to an application that is called something cryptic - I assume that is something for Midi2LR.
I allowed that, but still no luck.

What version of MacOS are you using?

I even installed the latest Update to High Sierra now, but still no connection to LR possible :(

Any other tips?

The program that asks for permission for incoming connections when I freshly install Midi2LR is called "osx-x86_64".
That should be something coming from Midi2LR, isn´t it?
