Hello, i've just installed the VST on my Win10 PC and i have some problems.

i'm trying to keep all my VSTs in a "non-C:" disk, as i can boot from two OSs, and i use the VSTs from both. Do do that, i have a "S:\_VSTPlugins" directory which is where both the OSs looks for the VSTs.

So i installed MSS in
"S:\_VSTPlugins\MIDI\MIDIShapeShifter\
There's the .dll, the net .vstdll and the "MIDI Shape Shifter" settings folder.

But it won't works, 'cause MSS is looking for
"C:\User\<username>\MIDI Shape Shifter\" folder. Seems an hardcoded path to me.

My solution is to create a symlink on the user folder in both the OSs, linking the directory in S: but seems to me that the VSTs should look where i installed it, or have a setting that saves where the data folder is.... or some other "smart" solution (some VST looks for a link to the data folder).

There's something different i can do to avoid to create the symlink?

Another question:
there's an updated documentation?
'cause the wiki pages dropbox links are all dead, but even an offline HTML page could do the job (or a PDF).

Thanks

Hey,

So did you select the settings folder to be on your S drive in the installer or did you move it after installing? I thought it would work if you selected it in the installer so you could try reinstalling. But if not you could edit the registry entry that tells MSS where the settings folder is:

1. press windows key + R, type regedit and click ok
2. navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\MIDI Shape Shifter
3. right click settingsFolder and select "Modify..."
4. enter S:\_VSTPlugins\MIDI\MIDIShapeShifter\

Yeah the docs are in rough shape. Let me know if you have any questions on things that are unclear

I don't know what happened to the images and dropbox links but there is a polish version of the docs in PDF for that a user made which has all the images and tables https://midi.deefacto.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/MIDI_Shape_Shifter_dokumentacja_PL.pdf

Ah, there it is. Searched for it and missed. Thanks.

The exact procedure was install, seeing it complaining about the vstdll, download another zip file, install (which resulted in a "repair") and then getting the folder error.

Dropbox ceased to "host images" (so, linking the images there from other sites) a couple of years ago. They should still be there, but no more visible from other sites.
