I'm using the Rocker LX (firmware 2.4) to play RB on the Wii. I've been using my Roland HD-1 for the last year, and the whole setup has worked great.

Just recently, I've been missing many notes, especially on the kick pedal and ride cymbal. I hooked it up to the computer and ran the software (very cool, btw).

When I viewed the MIDI event log, I noticed that the Rocker was registering MIDI notes that the HD-1 can't send. For example, the kick pedal is supposed to be note 36, and it is SOMETIMES. However, other times I press the pedal and it registers note 32, which the HD-1 is not capable of sending, according to the HD-1 manual. Sometimes, it will register note 36, then 32 on release (for the note off event).

I even tried adding note 32 for the kick, and it would register sometimes, but not always, especially in rapid sequences.

I did some further research, and MIDI drums don't go below 36, so I'm not sure why the Rocker thinks I'm sending note 32, or note 9 on the ride cymbal. Once again, the HD-1 manual matches the HD-1 setup in the software, so at this point I have to believe there is something wrong with my Rocker LX.

Any help is appreciated.

The MIDI log data is just reporting the notes that are received from the drumkit without any translation or mapping, so it would seem that for some reason, the LX is receiving those notes, which means that either the drumkit really is sending them, or the data is not getting received properly. You might try a different MIDI cable and see if that makes a difference.

Note 32 is generally used as "High Hat Control", meaning it is

A new MIDI cable worked!  Thanks for the suggestion--I was skeptical at first (since MIDI is digital data).  The first MIDI cable I had was a cheapie from Best Buy, but this time I bought a nicer one from a music store.

Thanks again!  I'm just glad to be back playing on my drums again.
