Hi hat pedal threshold being ignored?

Just got my Midi Rocker LX and loving RB3 pro mode, so thanks Scott
for a great piece of hardware.

The problem I have is with the hi-hat. I'm using a Roland HD-1 and the
hi hat pedal response is very non-linear. If 127 is fully closed, you
only need to move the pedal *very* slightly to get a huge jump to
something like 80 or 90, then there's only one or two other stages to
zero that happen quite far up the pedal travel.

Effectively it's far too easy to get an open hi-hat by mistake, which
looks exactly what the pedal threshold setting in the software is for.

It doesn't seem to do anything though - I can move the slider between
the two extremes and using the drum test page in the windows software,
the response is the same. Any ideas? I can send a MIDI log if it
helps.

Settings / kit: Roland HD1, Playstation3, Rock band mode, firmware
2.0.

OK, so since posting this I did actually RTFM and realised that the hi-
hat threshold has no effect in game and it's only for freestyle.

My bad, sorry!

Marc,

I have a Roland TD 4 and with my setup I found the high hat threshold
setting to be of no use.

I have the HH closed mapped to yellow cymbal. HH open is mapped to
blue cymbal.

This way I can play songs realistically as they usually map open HH to
blue. In freestyle mode and fills an open HH sounds like a ride
cymbal though. I don't see a fix for this. If i mapped open HH to
yellow that would mess up the game.

Yep, that's what I've done in the end, following advice gleaned from
this group. Seems to work well and realistically it just means I have
to learn better pedal control to avoid accidentally keeping the HH
open for longer than I wanted to - not exactly a bad thing!
