It's been a long time since I've posted anything here, so I thought I'd drop a quick note to update everyone.

First, I hope you are all doing well in this troubled time and staying safe. I think that because of the pandemic more people are getting out their old Rock Band kit and rediscovering how much fun it is. I've seen an uptick orders of the Strum Fix Plus, and have also been getting more inquires about the MIDI Rocker.

I would love to make a new version of the MIDI Rocker, but I just don't have the time these days. I did put all the design files on GitHub (github.com/bytearts), so should someone else wish to make them, they can. I even have some blank circuit boards which I can send out to anyone that wants to make one. However, there is an alternative solution available now, called the Roll Limitless Adapter -- check out rolllimitless.com for more info. I have not used one of these myself, but I've heard a lot of good things about them. The price seems quite reasonable for what it does.

I did recently upload a digitally-signed version of the MIDI Rocker software to my website which works with Windows 10. The previous version had problems running on Windows 10. Since it's digitally-signed, it should be easier to install as well.

I still have a small stock of parts for the MIDI Rocker LX and so can do limited repairs -- contact me if you need any repairs -- I can typically do it for little or no charge, I just ask that you cover the shipping costs.

Stay safe and keep on rocking!

Hi Scott!

I hope you and yours are safe and healthy. While most of my immediate family and friends are safe, unfortunately one very good friend of ours is currently extremely sick from complications of COVID-19. I would ask anyone reading this to please, please take all the precautions you can to try to prevent getting and spreading the virus.

I haven't played Rock Band in a very long time. But I had a lot of fun hooking up my basic Roland kit with the original MIDI Rocker and playing along back in the day. Thanks, Scott. 😀 I still have it, and it should still be in good condition. I don't really plan on getting back into music games like that in the foreseeable future, so if you would ever need it for parts or something, just let me know.

Thanks Scott for mentioning rolllimitless.com I was not aware of it.  And also thank you for making the information available to build a MIDI Rocker.

I am still rocking with the original MIDI Rocker (the one with the buttons and little joystick) you did an awesome job with that one.

Hope everything is well with you and your family.

Hugo -

Thank you! It seems like the rolllimitless does about everything the MIDI Rocker did, so I'm glad it's out there as an option. I still want to make a new MIDI Rocker someday, even if just for myself. I want to use it to make a drum-playing robot that uses a camera to watch the screen and play Rock Band autonomously -- I think it would be a fun project and would put me at the top of all the leaderboards (just kidding).

Take care,
Scott

Hi Everyone. I've left Reunion island, and I'm now living in France, near Lyon.
Sadly I have left my TWO midi rocker LX , and my wife would like to play again rock band 4, so I have to search for an alternative or a midi rocker lx second hand. I'm going to check those roll limitless, and try to find a used roland TD9 drum kit:)
Hope everyone is safe and not harmed by this humpfing pandemic.
