I am working on it now and should have a beta version ready before
Saturday morning, so hopefully a few people will try it out over the
weekend and send some feedback!

A beta version of the LX firmware for RB3 on the Wii is now available.
Please note that you will also need to use a new version of the
Windows software with this firmware if you want to use your PC to
configure your LX.

I've put all the beta versions on a new page at http://www.bytearts.com/beta/beta.htm.
This will be the "central hub" for all beta versions from now on. I
will post a message here whenever something new is available there.

If you get a chance to try out this firmware with RB3 on the Wii,
please let me know the results.

I'm working on a number of improvements to the software and firmware
-- not just for RB3, but to make the whole experience easier.

Thanks,

Thanks Scott, I gave it a try. Unfortunately it's not working for
me. After loading RB3 I can "join" with MR-LX by using the +/start
button on the MR-LX and seem to be able to navigate with the MR-LX
buttons, but neither the cymbals nor the pads are being correctly read
(when I strike either cymbal or pad the menu header flashes
acknowledging the strike but nothing happens).

As a check I went back and reloaded RB2 with the beta firmware and
everything still seems to work fine there.

Let me know when you have something else for me to try. Feel free to
email me directly to try something right away (I didn't see this beta
posting until just a few minutes ago).

Thanks -- Dan

Thanks Scott,

everything is working fine for me. All cymbals and pads are correctly
recognized.
I´m playing on a european Rockband 3 Version.

Again thanks for fast support.

Scott,

Everything is working great for me: MidiRocker LX + Roland TD12
playing RB3 on the Wii with Pro Mode drums. Thanks for all the
effort!

Any chance that you will be able to adapt the LX to serve as a midi
keyboard to pro-mode keyboard controller for RB3 on the Wii? I have a
nice roland keyboard that I would love to try out!

Thanks again!

I'm working on the keyboard now. The problem is that it seems that
they have somehow made it so the keyboard acts dumb and doesn't send
any keypress data over the USB until it is activated by the game, and
so far, I haven't figured out the activation sequence. It may require
some time -- I wrote a program and left it running overnight which was
trying to find the sequence using brute force trial and error, but
didn't get any results yet.

Hi Scott,

I tried the new firmware, but it is not working for me either. As
with "danwa",
I can "join" using the buttons on the LX, but the drums do not
register hits.
I should also note that in the grid on the new Windows GUI, there are
no mappings
entered with the new firmware. When I go back to the previous
firmware (RB2),
everyhting is back to normal again (just no PRO mode in RB3.

Thanks for your work on this.....Jeff

Thanks for the feedback. I may have inadvertently erased the note
mappings when I created the beta version for the Wii. I'll go back and
double-check everything and post an update tonight.

In the meantime, you should be able to recall a stored map from a file
and re-write it to the MIDI Rocker, or reprogram the notes on the MIDI
Rocker itself (using Program mode).

How goes the progress?
Built a device to sit between the PS and the controller to read the
transaction data as it occurs yet?

Steve -

I have figured out how to get the keyboard "activated" so that it sends
keypress and velocity data over USB, and have firmware for the MIDI
Rocker which behaves exactly the same way, but the game doesn't
recognize the MIDI Rocker as a keyboard yet. The Playstation recognizes
it as a game controller, but there must be some additional bit of
information which I'm missing to get the game to think it is a keyboard.

I might need to get my hands on a USB protocol analyzer to dig a little
deeper. Hopefully I'll be able to crack it soon.

Scott,

All of a sudden, this evening while playing RB3, all the mapping
setting changed during game play.
The navigation was correct (green-okay, blue-down arrow, yellow up-arrow etc)

But during game play the green became the snare (usually red), the
blue became the yellow, etc. etc. Nothing plays correctly. Am i the
only one with this problem, and what the heck happened? And do you
have any idea how to fix this.???

TIA,

Jeff

I should add that it worked fine for the first half hour of play.

Is it possible, that you accidentally selected "lefty flip" from the
start menu?

DOH ! That was it....thanks for the tip. I'll bet I don't do that
again.

I'm using the MIDI Rocker Classic with the beta firmware and a Yamaha
DTXpress IV Special on the Wii. Pro Mode is working fantastically!

I have uploaded my map to http://alekti.com/midi/dtxpress_iv.map if
anyone wants to download it. I think it'll work with all the standard
(non-customized) drum kits on the DTXpress IV, though I've only tested
a couple.

Thanks for the hard work Scott!
