Hi all,

It's been a LONG time since I was on here! Jan 09 to be exact...

I've started playing again, on a HD-3 in my small apartment. I dug out the Midi Rocker (not the LX) and it still works a charm. It's at the latest firmware.

I'm an XBox guy (not really, but all my RockBand peripherals are XBox). The controller is a modified RB1 drum kit I cut up and did the ByteArts mod to. I think this might be my problem...

In RB3 Pro mode, I can't get the cymbals to work. They seem to programmed correctly in GUI but the game is not getting cymbal hits. Is this due to the RB1 drum kit? I have a RB2 Beatles kit I could cut up and re-do as the interface, but I'd like to avoid the aggravation if possible.

If there is anything obvious I missed, feel free to help :)

Thanks, Phil.

Phil -
Yes indeed, the original RB drum controller does not support cymbals. You can hack an Xbox RB2 controller to work with the MIDI Rocker LX (I can provide pics and instructions if needed), but unfortunately the original MIDI Rocker was designed before there were cymbals in Rock Band and so doesn't have enough outputs to drive the cymbal inputs on the Rock Band 2 (or Beatles) controllers. It hurts me say this :), but what about using a MadCatz MIDI Pro adapter, since it is designed to work with the XBox?
Cheers,
Scott

Disappointing isn't it Phil.
Sucks that the RB1 controller is restricted like that.
I just can't justify buying another device for Rock Band when I don't play it often any more.

I never even got to give the keyboard a go :(

Well, I took Scott's advice and found a Midi Pro Adapter. It works flawlessly with the HD-3.

Sorry Scott, I couldn't face the hack into the RB2 drum and all the mods. The Midi Pro just simplifies the whole set-up.

Cheers, Phil.
