- Equating Zionism with racism and Nazism: Soviet propaganda consistently sought to demonize Zionism, portraying it not as a legitimate Jewish national movement but as a discriminatory, expansionist ideology linked to fascism and racism. This culminated in the UN Resolution 3379 in 1975, which equated Zionism with racism, a resolution that was later repealed.
- Fabricating Conspiracy Theories: The KGB disseminated various conspiracy theories, including claims that Zionists had collaborated with Nazis during the Holocaust, according to The Wilson Quarterly. They also promoted the idea that Zionists controlled global finances, politics, and media, drawing upon classic antisemitic tropes.
- Disseminating Anti-Semitic Tropes: Beyond targeting Zionism, Soviet propaganda also utilized traditional antisemitic stereotypes and caricatures to vilify Jews and Israel.
- Promoting Anti-Israel Narratives in the Middle East and Globally: These disinformation campaigns weren't limited to the Soviet Union but were spread through Soviet-backed publications, communist parties, and organizations globally, including in the Middle East. have persisted
and continue
to be recycled
in
contemporary
anti-Israel
