Whenyou configure Cubase you should be able to select from 3 options:
WDM driver (windows driver model driver)
Generic asio (speudo asio wrapper from Steinberg to use WDM driver)
Vendor ASIO - you should see something called LYNX ASIO Driver, this is the one you want.
There is a directory named Asio in your C:\Program Files\Steinberg directory. Just make a back-up of this directory (very important - I will explain later why), and simply remove this directory from the given location.
Now restart windows, and you will notice Sonar no longer uses that generic ASIO driver. It makes no difference for Cubase, because you should use the device ASIO driver in stead of a generic driver anyway. Problem solved.
Lynx support suggested that a list has somehow been modified without updating the indexes or some such thing, thereby shifting all of the names. Consequently, the backend is still working - my Lynx device is still producing audio - but Device Manager (and who knows what else) is out of whack. Moving forward without correction, things would only get more confused or broken.
When you say, just make a back-up of this directory, are you referring to simply moving that directory to somewhere else on the computer (as in cut and paste)? And in that case, is there no need to mess with the Windows Registry?
The generic ASIO driver comes in play when there are no real ASIO driver ( onboard audio?), it wraps the wdm to use as ASIO.
Asio4all is another way of doing the same ( never use these hacks for any serious work)
The Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver has well-documented problems with other applications (e.g., Sonar). As such, it might not be common knowledge in these forums, but a general Google search will reveal more, should anyone need it.
Anyway, deleting the Steinberg Generic ASIO driver is not enough, but, going into the Regedit program as described took care of my problem with WL - and for that I am very grateful to you and your post!! Thank you!!
I have assistnet software that I can use as a TCP Server and I can receive the message OK in that software. I can also set up assisnet to be a client and I can send a message to the Generic TCP driver and receive it OK in Ignition. But directly to scale I get error.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
So the error MessageHandler received message from unknown device... is gone now and the driver receives a message from your device, but not the data you are expecting?
Please post the message configuration.
By the way, if you are not connecting multiple devices or need the message buffering provided by the driver, a simple listening socket might be an easier solution for your use case. See this thread for an example.
Without knowing the meaning of that 114 bytes your best chance is to configure an Unsigned Byte array with 114 bytes length. Then you may try to guess the content(meaning of the single bytes.
It would be much easier to contact the device manufacturer and ask for a documentation of the data packet.
The driver is not experimental, it is generic. Is your HP device a laptop? If so, the driver HP provides is likely customized. Using a generic driver may cause you to lose those customizations. What customizations? well, things like any keyboard controls that allow you to control the display.
Also, on an HP device, you should not be using IDSA. Surely HP provides a way to keep their device updated rather than leaving their customers unsupported, and without updated drivers from HP. But, unfortunately, HP is among the slime manufacturers that take your money and offer little support in return. Just my opinion.

Our High Sierra updated lab computers will not print to our pharos instance in word and some PDF documents. Its due to a known issue with PostScript drivers. One of the solutions is to simply change to PCL drivers.
However, Heres the script I use to add a printer with the generic PS driver. I cannot figure out where the PCL driver is located, and have read it may be generated dynamically. How can I use a similar script and also change the driver to a working PCL driver rather than the generic PS driver?

I am trying to use the advice from another thread ( ) to get my new Mac (Mountain Lion, OS x 10.8.2) to recognize my printer. The printer is an older one no longer supported by its manufacturer (Xerox PE220, exactly the same as in the other thread). The other thread says that the generic driver is located here:
. . . I can't find it because I don't know how. Terminal tells me "Permission denied" when I enter this line in it. I tried searching for "Generic.ppd" in Spotlight and that didn't work, either. Using System Information, I could get as far as /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework, but no "Versions" or anything farther down show up.
If you want to use the Generic PCL or Generic Postscript driver that is included with OS X, then you don't have to browse to that path (which doesn't seem correct in any case). Simply open Print & Scan, select to add and choose the protocol you want to use. Once you have entered in the necessary connection details, click on the Use menu and select either the Generic Postscript or Generic PCL printer.
That is my response referenced above, and I put the path to the generic ppd because the PS and PCL ppds were not showing up in the Use menu. I wasn't sure what to do with that - a permissions issue? - since I have never run across that.
Linc Davis, no other printers than the Xerox PE220 show up. Apparently adding this printer in the past caused all other printers to disappear, even the generic default ones. Even after I deleted that printer, there are still no other printers/drivers showing up through the usual route (Print/Scan) -- I believe this is what John Blanchard1 is also syaing ("the PS and PCL ppds were not showing up in the Use menu").
If so, when you select "Other" from the Use menu and the panel that lets you select the ppd appears, go back to Finder, and drag the Generic.ppd file to that panel. You should be able to select it then.
Managed to install and configure the IP Camera (fixed, with H264) Driver (dated 12/18/2014) and am able to get the rtsp stream displaying on Apple IOS Control4 UI for each camera My camera does not support Snapshot URL or HTTP MJPEG Stream - only support RTSP.
However when you use the UI to navigate from Security-->Camera there is a grid of all the cameras but all with a waiting circle spinning round and round. Is there anyway to configure this so that it uses the RTSP stream?
I'm using this generic IP driver for a Bosch Flexidome Camera at a client's house, and I've got the camera working fine, however the snapshot isn't working for the thumbnail when I'm in the cameras page. Any ideas on how to fix this? Or if it is possible? Thanks in advance.
Of course, right after posting this I tried a few more things and was able to get it working. For anyone having issues with the same thing, what I had to do was change the .jpeg snapshot URL to " :80/snap.jpg?"
