Subject: [PCCLIST] Revised Balinese Romanization Table for comments

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to share that the Balinese Romanization Table has been thoroughly revised and is available for public comment through June 15, 2025.

The 2012 and 1997 versions of the table are linked at the beginning of the updated table.  The changes from the 2012 version can be found on P. 5 of the table, also listed below:

Changes from the 2012 version

  1. Explanatory preamble added.
  2. Principle of strict transliteration applied, based on ISO 15919:2001 with modifications.
  3. Explanatory footnotes revised throughout.
  4. Changed representative typeface to Noto Sans Balinese (available at Google under SIL OFL 1.1 license).
  5. Changed character glyphs with rendering issues.
  6. Corrected erroneous Balinese character glyphs.
  7. Added new and specified existing categories in the table: terminal consonants, Indic consonants, non-Indic consonants, punctuation.

Please submit comments to any of the following Review Subcommittee members.  We’d love to hear your feedback.  Feel free to share this message with anyone who might be interested.
