Dear colleagues,
I received this message from a colleague at the University of Chicago concerning the training of a new Middle Eastern cataloger. Would someone be willing to take this on?
Best,
Denise

Subject: training a new Middle Eastern cataloger
Hi Denise,
My name is Larisa Walsh and I am a Head of Metadata Management Services at the University of Chicago. We hired a new Middle Eastern cataloger, his name is Sassan Zand Moqaddam. Sassan has an MLS and some cataloging experience but will need to be trained in BIBCO and NACO, as we are a PCC library. I am training him in general cataloging but since nobody here in cataloging knows Persian or Arabic, I would like to ask for help. When I was at the PCC OpCo meeting I approached Manon Theroux as BIBCO program coordinator about this and she recommended to reach to MELA chairs. So, I am writing to you with a request: is it possible to have someone to review Sassan’s work? At least in relation to transliteration/native script.
Looking forward to hearing from you, thank you, Soufi!
Larisa
