Subject: Seeking clarification
To: <mid...@gmail.com>

Dear all,
On the day of carnival two teachers from our department were given off considering their medical condition as they are pregnant.I am also going through the same condition but I was not considered for the same. Also as far as I know the decision was not shared with the department. I would like to know the basis of this decision and clarification regarding this from the coordinator.
Regards
Archana

Dear Archana,

I am glad that you openly shared your query instead of keeping any assumption. The basis of this decision was their medical condition as both were in their 9th month of pregnancy and faced some medical issues earlier. So, we involved them in some other work related to carnival like collating and preparing classwise lists. If you ask me, "Why you were not considered" then I would say that while giving concessions, we place equity above equality. We may sit together to have discussion on this incase you need.

In response to your other query, I would like to state that some decisions are based upon leader's discretion and it won't be possible for me to post or share each case including every detail with everyone and I don't know whether eveyone would be interested in knowing that because I believe that we all trust each other. Having said that, I do take responsibility of clarifying the rationale of taking such decisions if anyone like to know the details.
Feel free to approach me for any clarity.

Warmly
Aruna

Dear Aruna Ma'am,

I think any decision taken by the authority should be shared with the group so that everyone has a clarity over the things happening in the department. It also helps them to approach you in similar needs.

We all trust you and that is the reason why I am asking this to you over the email.  I always appreciate these kinds of decisions taken on your behalf because they make the trust bond grow stronger. I just want to meet you and seek clarity regarding equity and equality, as seen by the school. An off was given to a  9 months pregnant lady but a 7 months pregnant lady was at work and giving duty the entire day.  How was her safety ensured?
I remember approaching you before the annual day for the same reason ie. Safety but the answer given to me was " you can take an off but it will be deducted".

Thank you.

Dear Archana,
I also value your point that every decision should be shared with the group in order to maintain transparency. But, I already shared that its difficult for me to communicate details of every concession to the group. However, I suggest a feasible alternative for future cases i.e. individuals applying for concessions can do the sharing with the whole group in staff meeting or through mail.

I request you to not compare yourself with others unless you are aware of the complete scenario and if you think that your safety or health was never a concern for me then I can share with you several instances wherein you were provided support.

Please suggest a suitable time slot to meet as per your availability.

Warmly
Aruna
