I would like to volunteer as an admin for the group. I will then start
going through all the spam messages and banning the senders. Also, I
think we need to change the group to a closed group with permission
required to join.

I appreciate this. I was about to leave the group to get away from the spam.

And now the great spammer hunt begins. Thanks Pete.

Remember, spam is no good in beer.

Now, just adding the proper amount of hops is another matter J.

Hop wars anyone?

How much do you use for a 5 gallon batch?

Depends on the style.

I favor a beer with hoppiness; I personally like to do a four stage
hopping 60 minutes in the boil, then with 20 minutes left, and ten
minutes left. then dry hopping in the secondary. Some beers call for
much less hops - Belgian/Abbey ales, for instance. In that case I
stick to the recipe. Usually I use between 2 -4 ounces spread out
over the steps, probably adjusting up by 20% or so.

I grow my own hops - Hallertau which is my primary bittering hop, and
Centennial for aroma.
