Middlebury FPF Abandoned Bikes Post: We have 7 long-abandoned bikes for months now downtown taking up prime public bike rack parking, especially at Cannon Park, and no clear policy for their removal. Some locked, some with flat tires and rusted chains. I report what I see on FPF and to Middlebury Police and asked for their removal.

If you recognize your bike in the pictures or know to whom the bike belongs, please arrange for removal. Abandoned and stolen bikes are collected by Middlebury Public Works and brought to Middlebury Police Department where they can be claimed. Unclaimed bikes are donated for sale to the Middlebury Bike Swap in May. A reminder of this is posted before the swap.

Bikes do get "borrowed" and stolen so be sure to take a picture of yours and be able to describe its make, color, size and other distinguishing features and learn good practices for locking it when that's needed at How to Lock Your Bike. Happy and safe bike riding.
