Recently an interest survey was posted on Middlebury Front Porch Forum about creating a "rideshare app for the town of Middlebury or broader regions". While there are gaps in service at night and to access the airport at random times of day when public transit wouldn't be sustainable, Middlebury has access to an impressive amount of carbon and budget friendly transportation options. Here's the rundown.

Tri-Valley Transit Buses... https://www.trivalleytransit.org/
Tri-Valley operates several free modes of transportation in town and beyond. The newest is EZ Trip Middlebury, a free, door-to-door ride-hailing service in Middlebury. EZ trips are available M-F between the hours of 7am to 6pm. In Middlebury there is also a free shuttle connecting downtown to destinations on Court Street, departing Academy Street every 1/2 hour.

TVT operates free weekday circulators to Bristol, New Haven, Vergennes and Ripton/Middlebury Snow Bowl.

TVT operates free commuter buses to Rutland and Burlington and points in between. Continued travel to the Burlington airport on GMT local buses from the Burlington Downtown Transportation Center is possible.

Train... Amtrak serves Middlebury southbound at 10:41am and northbound at 8:45pm https://content.amtrak.com/content/timetable/Ethan%20Allen%20Express.pdf?_gl=1*1bkb22e*_gcl_[...]DY3

Intercity bus... Vermont Translines has a stop on Storr's Avenue with southbound service at 6:17am and 2:37pm and northbound service at 4:28pm and 11:23pm. https://www.vttranslines.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/2021-Bus-Rail-Link-Printable-Schedule-V5.pdf

And finally, the State of Vermont offers carpool matching and subsidized vanpools. https://www.connectingcommuters.org/information-and-schedules/ridesharing/
