The partner directory has also been updated with contact information if you want to follow up with any new people you met at the meeting.

Field Tour #3 on November 30
Please RSVP at bit.ly/mwpprsvp so we know how many people to feed.
Can you make it to the next Field Tour on November 30? This field tour will feature water quantity and quality in the South County.  Network with your colleagues as you learn about the built infrastructure that delivers quality water to your tap and supplies some of our County's major industries.  The tour will include the Newport - Seal Rock intertie as well as water infrastructure at South Lincoln County Water District , Waldport, and Yachats. The tour includes transportation and a complimentary lunch at Yachats City Hall. More information, including an agenda will be posted online soon! Please RSVP at bit.ly/mwpprsvp.

DRAFT Reports Ready for Review
In June and September, four Study Groups formed to develop a baseline understanding of water resources in the Mid Coast. Over 40 partners and interested individuals attended meetings and provided information and knowledge on:

Our technical consultant, GSI Water Solutions, worked with Study Groups to synthesize the information into draft technical reports - available on the Partnership website at http://midcoastwaterpartners.com/working-group-meetings/.The Technical Reports are available for review and comment. Due to feedback received from some partners, we will be accepting comments until December 8 - but the earlier you can send them in, the better!  Send your comments to Ingria Jones and Suzanne de Szoeke at GSI: ijo...@gsiws.com and sdsz...@gsiws.com.

As you're reviewing, please keep in mind that the reports were developed to provide baseline information to characterize our water resources in the Mid Coast.  There is much more to come . . . in the next steps of the planning process, the Partnership will work to define our current and future needs and potential solutions.

So, please let us know:

  • Did we miss anything 'big'?
  • Are corrections or clarifications needed?

Partnership Handout Review
The Communication and Outreach Working Group has been working on materials to communicate what the Mid-Coast Water Planning Partnership is all about - including a handout developed by Joyce Sherman of River Graphics and Northwest Steelheaders. Click here or on the image to view the DRAFT handout. The Coordinating Committee will be reviewing the handout at their meeting on December 15. If you have any feedback, send it to harmony.s...@oregon.gov for the Coordinating Committee to consider.

Mark Your Calendar – Partnership meeting on January 24
The next Partnership meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 24 from 4-7pm – mark your calendars! Materials will be updated at: http://midcoastwaterpartners.com/partnership-meetings/.

Partner Updates*

  • The Partnership is raising funds to support our planning process. Please think about how your organization may be able to pitch in in the new year. Every little bit helps and will get us closer to our goal! Please be in touch with Tim (T.G...@NewportOregon.gov) and Tia (t...@chaseparkgrants.com) if you would like them to give a presentation to your organization or your board.
  • The Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition would like to invite everyone to document the impact of King Tides on the estuaries and salt marshes during the next two series of King Tides- December 3-5,2017 and January 2-5,2018. Participants can either join one of the various King Tide gatherings and presentations https://oregonshores.org/coastwatch/coastwatch-events or visit www.oregonkingtides.net - click on the FAQ tab to watch the short video tutorial. Feel free to contact Fawn Custer with any questions (541-270-0027 or fa...@oregonshores.org)

*Partner updates are shared by partners for partners and are for informational purposes.

Funding Opportunities

Two water-related funding opportunities were recently announced:

  • The Domestic Well Safety Program is requesting proposals (RFP) for domestic well stewardship projects that build local capacity and serve vulnerable populations – click here for more information.
  • The Drinking Water Providers Partnership is inviting project proposals for 2018 that benefit native fish habitat, are within a public drinking water source area, and include federal lands within the drinking water source area (but the project does not need to occur on those federal lands) – click here for more information.

If you would like to include an update in a future email blast - send community events, news articles, public comment opportunities, funding opportunities, etc to harmony.s...@oregon.gov.

The Mid-Coast Water Planning Partnership is a regional planning group representing diverse water interests in the Mid-Coast Region. The Partnership is working collaboratively to understand and meet the water needs of communities, the environment, and the economy in coastal watersheds from Cascade Head to Cape Perpetua.

Learn more about the partnership online.

We had a great turnout at our November meeting, including 12 newcomers! Caroline Bauman with the Economic Development Alliance gave an Emmy winning performance. Read the notes to get a good recap.
