Dear Erin Brockovich,

Our Community is fighting Biosolids to Save Our Siletz River.   We need your help.  EPA & DEQ's are allowing the poisoning our soil & drinking water.   Some have been fighting Biosolid applications for 20 yrs.  I have been working on stopping biosolids for at least 10 yrs.  There is a group on Facebook, Save Our Siletz River  https://www.facebook.com/SAVEOURSILETZ/.  There are lots of us working to Save Our Siletz River.  There is also heavy Clear Cutting Logging with the use of chemicals for five years to kill indigenous species.   GMO Douglas Fir has top priority in Oregon.  With the denuding of the soil from indigenous species that prevent erosion.

The Siletz River is dying.  But, so are so many other rivers.  These challenges are Oregon issues of BioSolids, Big Timber & Big Chemical Corporation ruling the Legislator’s & Boards.  The MidCoast Watersheds Council  http://www.midcoastwatersheds.org/siletzcbp/ is trying to save Threatened Coho Salmon with the Coho Business Plan.  This is a Public & Private Collaboration to Save Coho Salmon on the Siletz River.
Biosolids are a nationwide challenge that Cities are using to dispose of Biosolids Toxic Waste by dumping on Farmland Nationwide.  Excessive nutrients are causing toxic algae blooms all over the USA.  Here is a recent report by EPA Office of Inspector General about Biosolid Toxic Pollutants.  Report: EPA Unable to Assess the Impact of Hundreds of Unregulated Pollutants in Land-Applied Biosolids on Human Health and the Environment Report #19-P-0002, November 15, 2018  The EPA identified 352 pollutants in biosolids but cannot yet consider these pollutants for further regulation due to either a lack of data or risk assessment tools. Pollutants found in biosolids can include pharmaceuticals, steroids and flame retardants.  https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2018-11/documents/_epaoig_20181115-19-p-0002.pdf

I know that you are very busy.  American’s need your help with Biosolids.  Please help us Stop BioSolids Toxic Waste Spreading on Soil in the Siletz Drinking Watershed that supplies a large percentage of drinking water on the Oregon Central Coast.  The Siletz River supplies Drinking Water for many coastal cities and rural residences. The Siletz River supplies drinking water to Siletz, Toledo, Seal Rock (South Beach to north Waldport) & Newport, Oregon.  The same thing is happening all over America.  Biosolids are contaminating soil & water for all humans and wildlife.

Florida had large Dead Zones from Algae from excessive nutrients from Biosolids being spread on Agriculture Lands.  EPA & DEQ’s do not even test for the 352 pollutants in Biosolids.  They only test for a small number of tests.  In Oregon, Cities are suppose to test Biosolids every third year.  They have avoided soil testing by changing fields every two years & never testing the soils for over 20 yrs.  They apply the Biosolids very close to the river.  Most of the Indigenous species in the Siletz River have died.  No longer full of invertebrates, crayfish, baby salmon or spawning salmon.  Even when Coho Salmon do spawn, what does they babies eat.  The Siletz River is Dying from Contamination from Human Causes.  But, the Siletz River is not the only River dying from contaminates.

The Oregon Lincoln County Commissioners have asked for a complete moratorium of spreading BioSolids in the Siletz River Drinking Watershed.  But, have been completely ignored by Cities.  They have a section on their website.  There is videos of Hearings.  One on them is mine, first time ever recording a Public hearing.  Lincoln County Commissioners posted it raw & unedited.  I am just glad that I was able to do it.  Here are links to Lincoln County Biosolids.  https://www.co.lincoln.or.us/boc/page/biosolids-summit & https://www.co.lincoln.or.us/boc/page/public-hearing-deq-biosolid-site-authorizations-siletz-logsden  There is a lot of Public information.  We are proud Lincoln County Commissioners have stood up against the spreading of toxic BioSolids.

Please help us fight this local battle to Save Our Siletz River.  But, we are just the tip of the iceberg.  Biosolids are contaminating America’s farming soil.  Telling Agriculture that BioSolids are Safe to Use & Believing EPA & DEQ’s, Not True.  EPA has been lying since the beginning of BioSolids Spreading on American Agricultural Lands.  This is such a huge challenge to face.  What are the alternatives?  Japan & other countries produce electricity with BioSolids, Landfill materials, Biomass from Food & Yard waste, all trash is processed for Electricity, including Plastics.  Lincoln City, Oregon is drying the Biosolids & hauling long distance to be put into Coffin Butte Waste Storage.  This is not a good long term answer, but has eliminated the liability to Communities for spreading Toxic BioSolids.

Thank you for your time & consideration of these critical issues to the Oregon Central Coast & the rest of America.  We must Stop Toxic BioSolids.  Please help us.

Best Wishes
