Subject: Resilience Funding Opp - EDA Disaster Supplemental NOFO
Hello resilience colleagues,
The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA, a bureau of the Dept of Commerce) recently announced a funding opportunity for coastal resilience efforts. You may want to take advantage, and/or share with your respective listserves. Please spread the word:
Last week EDA released this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for disaster supplemental funding (attached) for $587 million nationwide. The West Coast allocation is $93,810,000. Grants are for any federally declared disaster area in 2017, and projects must have some relationship to the disaster (direct or indirect). There is no deadline to apply.
An FAQ is attached, and EDA is working on a webinar that should be ready the week of May 7.
From the NOFO:
"EDA funds can be awarded to assist a wide variety of activities related to disaster recovery, including economic recovery strategic planning grants, and public works construction assistance. ... Through this program, EDA can support both the development of disaster recovery strategies and the implementation of recovery projects identified with those strategies, including infrastructure improvements and by capitalizing revolving loan funds (RLFs). ... EDA encourages the submission of applications based on long-term, regionally oriented, coordinated and collaborative economic development or redevelopment strategies that foster economic growth and resilience."
Frances Sakaguchi is EDA's West Coast Regional Economic Development Integrator, based in Seattle. She is an excellent resource and eager to assist. Feel free to reach out to her directly with questions (fsaka...@eda.gov). Any of the west coast OCM staff are happy to chat if you need a soundboard or want to brainstorm.
Cheers,
Becky
