Good afternoon instream summit attendees!

I want to thank all of you for your hard work and attendance at the summit! If you recall two statements were carried forward as written because consensus was achieved at the summit by attendees. The other ones were combined and revised as discussed in the summary materials from the summit. Instream summit attendees asked the Coordinating Committee to package up statements – the results of the summit were discussed at the Coordinating Committee – Emily-Bell and Leo (CC members) both agreed to help update problem-issue statements based on feedback received at the summit. David Waltz and I also helped with revisions.

Attached to this email are two documents for the problem-issue statement review process. We’re only reviewing the first four boxes of the problem-issue statements because that will be the focus of the inter-WG meeting.

  • PDF of the revised statements and the two approved statements.
  • A Word template for you to put your feedback for each statement into.

We talked about the conservation and climate change statements being cross-cutting issues and that over time we will work to develop statements that incorporate considerations from each of the working groups. There are additional issues that are of interest and concern to work group members. They are not the focus at this time, but they will be captured as potential issues that the Partnership may choose to tackle at a future time if consensus is deemed to be achievable. The third attachment on this email is that list of additional topics.

Next Steps:

  • Feedback on the problem-issue statements is due to me by May 13th to be considered.
  • The inter-WG meeting that was scheduled for April 28th is going to need to be rescheduled. We are waiting until May 1st to see if the “stay at home” policy will be extended or not. We are going to do what is needed to follow public meeting protocols in our ever-changing conditions so the format and meeting platform may need to adjust accordingly to keep us on track and keep our partners safe. Stay tuned more information about the inter-WG meeting after May 1st!

If any of you have questions I am always happy to help answer them for you! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these trying times.

Kind regards,

Alexandria
