Hello,
Yesterday 4/4, Lisa and I were out for a walk in the neighborhood and we saw dozens of what looked like Painted Lady butterflies. Most were flying north in their characteristic spiral flight pattern. We got a good look at an Osprey flying low and northward, carrying a fish in its talons.
This morning, I went for a neighborhood run and saw a couple more painted ladies. On Highland Dell Dr. I heard a raucous outburst of Steller's Jay and scrub-jay alarm calls. Then I saw the culprit, a Great Horned Owl, fly out of the creekbed.
On NW Bonney Dr., I heard the song of a Hermit Thrush. On NW Glen Eden Dr., an Orange-crowned Warbler was singing.
