Wet luscious air shook hands with my lungs as I pumped up Rd 540. Rain transitioned from mist to pour and awakened an ancient lifeform that Egypt made a god. Black sapphire and deep gold, large as mama pixie, floating through the dripping foliage as it aims to cut a stream of pheromones. 59 of these beauties over 1.75 mi of log road. Rain Beetles. A denizen of our soaking west forests, holy in its magnificence. It appears for a couple weeks when earth color ripens and then is gone.

For art and valley lovers I have a show of paintings of our valley home, during the month of Oct, at Sam's Station on 29th where you can procure dynamite coffee and more.
