Dragonflies at Bruce Starker Park pond

Hello,

On Saturday, July 18, I led a dragonfly watch party at the pond at Bruce Starker Arts Park. It was a warm, sunny summer day, too hot.

Here are the species we encountered.

Mosaic darner species (Rhionaeschna or Aeshna) hard to ID when we only saw them fly by

Blue Dasher (pictured)

Western Pondhawk

Flame Skimmer (pictured)

Black Saddlebags

Eight-spotted Skimmer

Common Whitetail

Pacific Forktail

Tule Bluet (pictured)

We also saw a Green Heron visit the pond and heard Red-shouldered Hawks call nearby.
