This gorgeous Audubon'sYRW showed up today in full breeding plumage.  Steve got this nice shot in front of an Indian plum (Oso), although that bright background tends to confuse the focus of the phone cameras.  We've been seeing occ. females and juvies for a couple of weeks.  It's always such a treat to see the first fully decked out males.

Another sure sign of spring... Male Spotted Towhees, who usually like to stay low to the ground and near the safety of brush have been chasing each other around the lawn and venturing to the tops of the trees to buzz out their breeding calls.

Aaahh

Thanks Carma, for sharing this!

Yellow-rumped Warblers were extremely thick at E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area all through December, and on into early January when I was still encountering dozens, sometimes over a hundred, along my 7.5 mile "raptor walk" route.

But strangely I haven't come across any locally in February (despite doing two full raptor walks, and numerous shorter walks) or so far in March. I see from eBird that a few people have been finding small groups of 1 to 4 birds here and there, but nothing like the numbers that I was encountering in December or January.

Nice to know that birds in full breeding plumage are starting to appear!

Joel
