I was under the impression that this plant is geum macrophyllum (a native?). The seed heads don't really look like what I see on the web.

Anyone care to venture an opinion? Thanks in advance!

Hi Margaret,

I think it's M. macrophyllum because of the basal leaves. Your thorough photos help! M. urbanum, the non-native look-alike, has basal leaves that terminate with a three-part structure, divided leaflets. M. macrophyllum has a single terminal leaflet. That terminal leaflet may have lobes but it never seems to be divided.

I haven't found exceptions but maybe there are and maybe there are other ID features I'm overlooking.
