Osprey are nesting on a snag just south of the Crystal lake cemetery in south Corvallis. Many people both residents and neighbors have been watching them over the last few months.
We think they mated mid April. Incubation is around 35 days so hatch would be mid to late May.
We think they have at least one chick.
Does this head look like a 6 week old chick? Or is this one of the adults. Cornell’s birds of the world only has two chick photos and those are of chicks noticeably smaller than the adults feeding them.
This snag is 70 feet high so the angle is not good for observing. Hence the uncertainty.
We also have seen three adults present or around this nest this year and last year.
