Turkey flock

During the last week the local turkey flock has gone down from 13 to 7.  We haven't heard any shooting so this may be due to natural dispersal, although non-human predation is also possible.  There seem to be 3 toms and four hens.  The toms are doing a lot of displaying, often facing off with another tom.  One who had just finished his display went after one that was still struting, pecking at its feet.  Besides tail spreading they also erect all the feathers on their backs and sides and drop their wings towards the ground.  Their snoods and wattles are getting more obvious and prominent.  When they catch the sun just right the iridescence is stunning.
