This morning I came across a Rock Wren north of Corvallis, hopping around and doing dipper-like "knee bends" on a concrete feed bunk.

It appeared to be a juvenile bird, which must have dispersed from wherever it fledged. This seems like a long way for a young bird to travel from east of the Cascades, so perhaps it fledged in the Coast Range.

This site isn't publicly accessible, but hopefully this report will inspire folks to keep an eye open for other juvenile "dispersants," which can be fun to watch as we head into the dog days of summer.
