Monarch butterflies in Salem

Two days ago we had a female monarch butterfly laying eggs on showy milkweed in our back yard.

Thanks so much , Stephanie! Over the past number of years, western Monarch populations had collapsed and numbers were ffrighteningly low. I thought perhaps we would no longer see Monarchs in OR. Luckily, this past year, numbers took an uptick In CA and I'm so pleased that you found one in OR!!!!
