Elk poop or deer?

Can deer sometimes have this poop where it’s a large mass all squished together, rather than discrete pellets? It’s from Bald Hill.

I would have the same question.  We are highly unlikely to have elk in our yard and have no other grazers, but see both this and the pellet variety.  I assume the variation in size is based on the diet of the day, but I'm no scatologist.
