While I was out two days ago, I found something very strange. I took a buddy back in with me yesterday to get another witness to the phenomenon.
Eerie noises that sounded most like Swainson's thrush calls but were most definitely not. After considering mammals, amphibians, ghosts I am fairly certain it was being generated by freezing dynamics in the fractured rocks.
How - I have no idea, either did my friend. Everybody that hears it thinks birds but I tracked many of the outbursts and could not find any proof of animals present. You might have to turn your speakers up to hear them.
On the first video there will be 3 moments at .01, 22, and 26 seconds with a ground slide at the end. The ground kept moving and rocks kept tumbling off the cliffs which kept me jumping. The whole first encounter was spooky
- at times I figured a cougar was playing me with along with the eerie sounds.
This occurred at the newt pond on rd 580 near Lewisburg Saddle
