Folks:
At mid-day yesterday there were more than 30 red-tailed hawks on the ground in a perennial grass field in the northeast quadrant of the intersection of 99W and Airlie/Suver Road. They were feeding on something, possibly pocket gophers. All that I could see clearly were juveniles. They were joined by a handful of great blue herons and a few ravens. In my many years of raptor observations I’ve never seen anything like this with red-tails.
