This warm weather has really brought out the reptiles!
Yesterday, coming down the path from our garden, I almost stepped on a 3-foot-long GOPHER SNAKE. The snake never moved, but being a bit of a snake-o-phobe, I jumped back a few feet.
Today, going through the gate up by our garden, I saw a good-sized ALLIGATOR LIZARD clamber away. I haven't seen a live one here in close to 10 years, though we've retained a couple of rock piles with Alligator Lizards in mind. This one seems to have taken a liking to what's frankly a junk pile outside of an old, disused greenhouse, so I think I'll leave the junk in place for another year.
No new birds today, but the lizard really made my day!
