Hi all,
Greetings and Happy New Year to you all!
FYI, I've just approved a few new members and then updated some outdated details, some of which I'm including here.
I set up Mid Sussex Drama Liaison about 10 years ago as a mailing list to let local Community Theatre groups in the area swap ideas, information, and publicity as those requests for help/actors/advice that help make sure that a show goes on.
When
I created it, some people didn't use Facebook, and
email was the lowest common denominator. Ignoring Facebook is a luxury that any group can no longer afford, but the email messaging has continued to run
without any need for day to day oversight...although somehow I had missed some join requests (sorry!).
The
associated Facebook group never really took off, but as most people do now use FB,
do feel free to follow and duplicate your messages there as a post if you wish.
I think this email list still has its uses, due to
its immediacy and (hopefully) still linking up some of the active people in various societies, although there are many that are not represented.
With Amateur Dramatics being very much a community activity, I've enjoyed watching, meeting or acting with
some of the different groups represented here.
The
intention is (still) to let any interested people share messages about
publicity for Upcoming Shows, Auditions or Other News/Discussion
questions.
Anyone in Mid-Sussex interested in community theatre can join or post.
Joining currently requires an admin approval - that was for both spam control and for privacy. Is that still sensible?
Or with email addresses as widely shared as phone numbers, should we allow people to join (and send emails) on request?
Please let me/us know what you think.
- Is this list still useful?
- How about the Facebook group
?
- Do you want to be an additional group admin (to approve join requests?)
- Or should we allow anyone to join the group without checks?
- Would a Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp group for very urgent requests be useful?
I'll try and recover and update the old
amdram-liaison
content and host it elsewhere (possibly on Facebook),. But apart from people joining (
welcome - the more the merrier!) the operation of the list seems to have worked well even without any regular admin attention - which was a big reason for using google-groups)
