Presented over
four nights from 26th to 29th October at the
Queen's Hall in Cuckfield, Ernest Thompson's multi-award winning play is a modern classic telling the charming story of ageing and grumpy professor Norman Thayer (Rick Farmer) and his wife Ethel (Chrys Tarr).
Each year they return to
their house on the lake, but this year the tranquillity is disturbed by estranged daughter Chelsea who arrives with her new partner Bill and his son Billy. The resulting tensions are both witty and humorous, played out against an undercurrent of heartbreak and suppressed emotion, but in the end the simplicity of life on the lake shows that second childhoods and second chances are possible.
