State Election Muslim Community Forum with Major Parties
DATE: Wednesday, 9th November 2022
Time: 5.45pm arrival – 7.30pm
Venue: ICV Mosque, Top floor, 66-68 Jeffcott Street, West Melbourne, VIC 3003
Representatives from the State Labour and Liberal Parties will be attending a forum with the Victorian Muslim Community this Wednesday, to be hosted at the ICV. The ICV is inviting its Member societies which represent a broad cross-section of the community in Melbourne and regional Victoria to join this forum, as well as other Muslim community organisations and leaders.
There are significant concerns raised by the Muslim community including protections for religious freedom and addressing Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate speech. The State Election on November 26th is the best opportunity to have the Muslim voice heard.
This is an opportunity for the Muslim community to raise their issues directly with State politicians including Ministers and Shadow Ministers less than 3 weeks before the State election. The ICV will moderate the forum insha-Allah.
The ICV invites you or a nominated representative to participate. Light refreshments will be provided.
We look forward to your participation.
Kind Regards,
Nada Shihata | Executive Assistant
