Micro Ruta de la Sal

Dear friends,

We are excited to invite you to take part in the "Micro Ruta de la Sal", an offshore regatta for autonomous sailboats, setting sail from Ibiza Island on April 5th, 2026.

This unique challenge presents two possible routes:

• Ibiza – Denia (50 nm)

• Ibiza – Barcelona (140 nm)

Teams from around the world are welcome, as long as they are presented by an academic institution. Several Spanish universities with naval engineering programs are already on board and developing their projects — and we’d love to see your team join them!

All the details can be found in the Notice of Race, and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We hope to see you on the starting line!

Thanks Andres ! Great to see someone posting on the Microtransat forum, and brought back happy memories.

Your email was in my spam folder - it's a good job that I check it :-)

I must admit that I had to use Googe translate, but - more importantly - Google Maps.

I see this race is withing the western Mediterranean. A map image or two would be good.

BTW: My favourite character from old TV series "Fawty Towers" is Manuel - "I come from Barcelona" :-)

Happy memories ? I recall, not long after John Sylvester told me about Microtransat,

an enjoyable diversion from our holiday in 2008(?) to attend a Robot Boat meeting on an Austrian Lake.

I recall meeting many guys there, including from Aberwystwth with their large boat on a trailer.

Some years later, after several years of prototyping, we did take a small robot boat to Sicily and try it :-)
