Hi Guys. For those few interested, this email sent to local mates, some of whom are in Tea-Joker.
You may as well have all the email and video, for simplicity and "Openess" ;-)
It's a pity that those simple changes to the Microtransat web site have not yet been made.
It looks as if we are only days or weeks away from a Bray Lake Test :-)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z4fHCo_aQI is a 54 minute  video with the trails of photos shot between Thursday 27th until Sunday 30th June 2024. The video shows yet more progress on Snoopy's Robot Boat - practically ready for a Bray Lake Test. The video starts with Robin's usual amusing introduction, most shot on Sunday 20th June, walking down their front drive at 22 Armitage Court in Sunninghill. You will see Snoopy's Robot Boat in his new "Test Tank"; Also "Duck Tug". Robin goes through the house, including the Games Room, There are glimpses of a few things. e.g. how, with help, they might get the house, back to what is was several decades ago.  The introduction shows important detail for potential "helpers" ;-) After the photo trails, Robin wraps up with video shot in July 2023: prophetic words of James Lovelock about Global Warming, and Robin's suggestions about the DVLA. He still has not received his driving licence. Most guys would be annoyed, but Robin is often amused by incompetence - so long as it does not result in suffering, pain, or death. Yes, as can be expected, from Robin's career, then hobby interests, there are plenty of examples of people, GPS Tracking, and technology put to good use. e.g. birds, foxes and mice caught on CCTV eating the peanuts; The automatic subtitles/captions were soon available, with translation into any language. Well Done Youtube Guys, whoever and wherever you are ;-) Footnote: Robin is experimenting with higher detail video. Also, Youtube used to give a choice of three images, for the "title picture" - and now just one ??? That one it chose when I looked at another video would have confused everyone ! :-) Things change :-) So Robin chose the image of Snoopy's boat with Tug Duck in the Test Tank :-)

That's the Youtube description above :-)

Came in for a rest, but also to correct that link to plimsoll / load line. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Load_line_(vessel)

A fairly recent video of Goldworth Lake & Black Park is on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyxZ3bAiLhM
TOO many videos to find it, other than "Robin Lovelock Black Park".
Probably on VHS but I do recall using Duck Cam at Black Park to rescue Gary Carter's model boat !

- back to work outside :-|

Thanks Richard. Yes, Black Park & the Model Boating Club - more later.

Not long back with a length of 2x1" from Homebase ( after Travis Perkins ) since Fay,
who minds your property, said you would phone me to say if I could have a scrap of yours - no need now ;-)
Fay was concerned when I said Snoopy's Test Tank might be a permanent fixture outside our front porch.

Plimsol Line ? Interesting history - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterline
Ship owners making lots of money from insured ships, at expense of the crew.

The main purpose of marking the normal waterline on Snoopy Sloop is to see,
with time, if he sinks lower in the water. Obviously effected by the heel of the boat.
But can be useful if I get a phone call, as I did once, after a launch from Boscome(?)
with the boat out of sight - even with binoculars. The old yachtsman was concerned
it was a radio controlled yacht that got lost. Bo Probs I said, when he said direction it was sailing ;-)

Black Park yacht club. Yes, one of the hulls - maybe the current one - was given me by one of the members,
who would not take any cash for it. Typical value on ebay ( I have 2 that way ) is ~ 40 GBP.
BEFORE you do all the work on it, including pumping it full of "No Nonsense" foam filler :-)
DEFINITELY a hobby activity to involve grandkids in Richard - and others ?
Our youngest member of Team-Joker so far is Jai - seen with Dick in various videos :-)

I just saw that the "End June 2024" was only 20% processed, so don't hold your breath - tomorrow ?
But walking over you would see much more - remember testing your boat on June's paddling pool Richard ?

Let me see if I can find some links. Left an answerphone message for John earlier - founder member of Team-Joker. e.g. "Snoopy" on http://www.gpss.co.uk/autop.htm
I see they still have not updated the Microtransat, linked from the very top, with 2024 Entries :-(
But that "snoopy" page ( on a decent screen ) has the important stuff, and links :-)

e.g. the Design" page on http://www.gpss.co.uk/rbdesign.htm
with those spare hull that I still have here, and details on how to make a robot boat ;-)

I still LOVE that "Early Years" video on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suAaNusIfM0
on how we started testing prototypes, and, just 2 minutes in, Stuart filming Snoopy Sloop 1 sinking :-)

Enough typing - out to do more work on Snoopy's Test Tank ;-)

Robin,

You could ask your driver to take you to Black Pond, Slough where you will find a nice calm lake with a concrete edge along one side (where the water level is usually 6-12" below the edge) to dip snoopy.
I am not sure that the plimsoll line is that important for your needs, that is unless you want to check that the yacht is on an even keel following your recent changes.

Hi Guys. Following emails & telecons, I've booked Duke Of Edingburh, round table ( to right), for 6,
but she knows it may only be Stuart, Richard, Terry, and myself Robin. Some like Mike come unannounced :-)

Plenty of scope for other get-togethers this week, lunchtime or evening.
I'm happy to treat you guys, particularly in our village, since you might be burning petrol.

Some may fancy seeing Snoopy put on the water, including Bray Lake, or checking what I've done wrong :-)
Snoopy's "Test Tank" is now functional - just "prettying it up" with planking - for June ;-)
The Duck is also "champing on the bit" for a test outside the test tank - also on latest video.

Not sure when today the video will be on Youtube: heavier processing 'cos of higher res.
When it is ready, I'll probably "broadcast" it to several networks including this "Pub Grub" one.

Take Care

Good Sunday evening gents. What day(s) and location(s) for pub grubs this coming week ?

I suggest you speak for yourselves rather than second guess what others might prefer.

As you know, my favourite is Red Lion Lightwater and I'm always happy to subsidise or pay ;-)

Snoopy's Robot Boat is looking good, after tests in his new "Snoopy Test Tank" near our front porch.
Duck Cam Mk 3 ( or "Tug Duck" ) is also looking good - you will see both in the introduction, shot earlier,
of my "End of June 2024" Photo Trail video - which will probably be published early tomorrow Friday :-)

I have yet to complete the photo trail for today, Sunday, since "work" is still in progress,
but - more importantly - I shall probably be at The Sunninghill Comrades Club until late
- yes Adriano, of La Sorrentina, is also in the recent photo trail :-)

I was delighted when saw the waterline on Snoopy's boat - which IS a lot lighter since last attempt.
It must have been all that water I pumped out a good year or two back.
The 500 gm of "Bray Lake Test" kit hardly makes any difference. But best see the video ;-)
Bray Lake is also very different, with huge iron girders near Snoopy's Base - and better.
Unless perhaps you have compass based steering - which we don't ;-)
