There is this following error which occured in the Intelligence Server,
which caused the Microstrategy Intelligence server service to stop
abruptly:
"The description for Event ID [13] in Source [MSTRServer] cannot be
found. The local computer may not have the registry information or
message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The
following information is part of the event: ServerStateLogger:
Unexpected exception, the server is shutting down."

Can anyone please help me interpret this error.

In which log file did this appear? Can you provide some context as to
the particular circumstances under which it happened? Is it the first
time? Do you have any hypotheses as to why this could have happened
(any configuration changes lately?)

I'm inferring that this entry was found in the Windows event log. If
so, you need to take a look at DSSErrors.log and try to match the
timestamps. There should be a corresponding entry very close to the
time of the reported error.

Normally when the IServer unexpectedly shuts down like this it is due
to memory depletion. As the previous poster mentioned you should check
the dsserrors.log file to see. Search for the word Memory and see if
you get results the coorespond to the date the error occured. You may
need to look in the dsserrors.log.bak file if you don't find it in the
dsserrors.log file. There is a new service I've heard about that is
supposed to monitor your Microstrategy Environment for things like this
and tell you when and what went wrong.
