I am new to the Xbox just bought one last week. Is there such a way to set
up an XBOX server on the internet? Like the game servers that exist for PCs?

Not for you, no. Microsoft is setting up an enormous datacenter to
support Xbox online gaming. It's called Xbox Live and will be released
later this year.

There are ways to play a few games online right now, but it's strictly
peer-to-peer - there are no "game servers" involved (one machine is the
host, of course).

Only way to connect to others on the internet is by going
to two places.

here are the two:

www.xbconnect.com and http://www.xboxconnector.com/ which
are pretty good before the XBL comes out.

pay the $20.00 ontime fee they still swamp you with their
stupid sponsor ads that no one is interested in. Plus Halo
lags big time. By the time you get to play the game
freezes due to lag and when it unfreezes you are dead.
wait for XBL
