Stuck in Legendary Truth and Reconciliation

Hi

I decided to go through the whole game in Legendary mode. Everything
was relatively smooth, but now I'm stuck in Truth and Reconciliation.
My last checkpoint is in that crevice that leads to the platform that
the Covenant use to move things between the ship and the surface. My
health is at 3, and I have about 15 bullets for the sniper rifle. I
can take out all of the enemy without wasting any sniper rifle bullets
or health (although it takes a while). Then, when I proceed to the
platform or, say, the second stationary gun (if you count
counterclockwise), something is triggered in the game without setting
off the checkpoint, and new enemy gets dropped from the ship. I run
back to the first stationary gun and start firing like a madman.
Eventually, but inavitably I get killed. I tried going through the
whole thing 20-40 times already. I also tried other strategies, such
as

1) moving the stationary gun with grenades before setting off the game
(initially there is a tree right between the gun and the platform)
2) running to other stationary guns
3) not using stationary guns
These work even worse.

Ideas?

Thanks
Oleg

Do NOT use the stationary guns...they are deathtraps. You cannot get up the
lift until you have killed every single Covenenat, including the 2 Hunters
at the end of the waves. There is a big rock at the passage where you
entered this area. Use that as a retreat point and fight off all the waves
from there. Anywhere else and you will be surrounded and killed. One
trick...when you have a mass of bodies there and seem to face overwhelming
odds, toss a grenade into the pile of bodies and get behind the rock...even
retreat. You'll sometimes set off such a mass explosion you'll wipe out that
entire wave. Good luck.

Tim nailed it. Avoid the stationary guns and use the retreat strategy.

By the way, you ain't seen nothin' yet.... When you DO get up the Grav
Lift, some invisible elites are going to kick your butt. IMO, it is by far
the toughest scene in the entire game.

Yeah...I forgot to tell you to save those precious sniper bullets. I hope
they're enough. Once your through the first wave of elites in the grav room
and you've escaped to the side passages make sure you also take a plasma
pistol. Then, fire a charged shot at the gold elite to take down his shield.
Then hit him with a sniper bullet quickly. Otherwise, it takes 3 shots from
a sniper rifle to kill the gold elites.

Thanks. I boarded the ship. Unfortunately, in the process I lost my
sniper rifle. I put it down because I wanted to have two weapons, yet
I wasn't planning on wasting any sniper ammo, but when the fighting
near the narrow passage to the gravity lift was over, the rifle
disappeared (maybe the explosions threw it somewhere). Anyways, I
couldn't find it, so I boarded the ship with a plasma rifle, needler
and full health. Now I'm stuck there.

If I had a sniper rifle, I can see how with lots of luck, invisibility
and eye-to-hand coordination I could survive. Without the rifle, I
easily kill the first (blue) elite with a burst from the plasma rifle,
sometimes I kill a golden elite, grab invisibility and/or get into the
tunnel that leads somewhere (with some doors blocked, some not), but I
get overwhelmed eventually. Yes, it is a pretty tough place in the
game. Any suggestions?

As an update: I did manage to get to the next two checkpoints. I
killed the first couple of elites, hid in one of the passageways and
then fought the enemy from there: needler for golden elites (a burst
of needles causes them to explode), plasma rifle for jackals, plasma
pistol - for grunts.

So you're past the two hunters?

Good job! It sounds like you are moving along pretty well. After you kill
the hunters, getting around the first couple passages can be a bit tricky
because Covenant keep sneaking up behind you.

There are two hunters on the surface (before boarding the ship). It's
hard to kill them with plasma weapons, so I just made them jump into
the abyss. Then there are two hunters on the ship. A checkpoint was
triggered after I killed just one, so I just ran past the other.
Killing the first one with a plasma pistol was pretty unreal: I kept
stepping right and turning left towards the hunter, while standing
right next to him. So instead of jumping towards me the hunter kept
running in circles, while I kept firing with a plasma pistol until he
died.
