Hi - running Works 6 on XP Pro SP1.

Three questions:

1 - Where is the .wcd file located? I did a search and couldn't find it. I
like to back it up to another hard drive.

2 - Since I couldn't find the .wcd file, I exported vCalendar - All
Appointments to my second hard drive. To test it out I imported it. I
ended up with a Calendar full of duplicate entries. How can I import
without duplicating the entries.

3 - I manually deleted each duplicate entry. Whew! It took about an hour.
Is there any way to automatically delete duplicate entries?

Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe727,

Perhaps the following Knowledge base articles will be of interest.

Works Calendar: Description of the Mswkscal.wcd File
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;Q263971

Works: Calendar Data Is Saved in .Wcd File After Uninstalling
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;193163

Works: How to Backup Calendar Information in Various Formats
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;246703

In reference to the three questions:

1 - Perhaps check the .wcd search is looking in all files. Also on the
search page click Tools on the menu bar then click Folder Options, under
View tab check to display hidden folders.

2 - Duplicate entries is a known problem and I do not know why it hasn't
been fixed.

3 - There is no automatic delete duplicate entries that I know of.

Hope this helps,
Ken

Hi Ken - thanks for the links. I have show all hidden folders, including
the system folders, and I still can't find the .wcd file. I believe the
full file name is mswkscal.wcd. It's a bit frustrating. The file was easy
to find in Windows 98SE.

The duplicate entries were quite a surprise. I never backed-up using the
Export function. Even when I uninstalled, and reinstalled Works, the
Calendar entries were not removed, so I could not start over with an empty
Calendar in which to Import the backed-up entries. As such, the
Import/Export function seems useless.

HI Joe,

Re: Duplicate entries....

Perhaps one can use the procedure in this Knowledge base article to make a
blank mswkscal.wcd file, then import the backed-up entries.

Works : Error Message: Works Cannot Access One or More Files Needed to Run
Calendar
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;Q303858

Hope this help's,
Ken
