Employee talked us into letting her install her own copy
of Works. We do not use works elsewhere on our network.
Allowed it, knowing we could remove it when she left. Now
that she has gone, we realized we cannot remove this
product without the CD!! I have been unable to locate any
of the removal tools that were listed in the various Works
articles.

Tried to send e-mail query to Microsoft, but process balks
on PID, stating all the support has been used up for it.
We have to uninstall this for licensing! Otherwise this
is now unlicensed software!!!

I'm probably lost here but cannot you just follow these
steps?
From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then choose
Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
In the list of programs on the Install/Uninstall tab,
find Microsoft Works. Click Add/Remove.
Confirm that you are certain you want to uninstall this
software by clicking Yes.
When the removal is complete, click OK in the
confirmation dialog box.

You can't use the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to
remove MS Works because when you do that, it demands the
original CD from which Works was installed. The uninstall
information is on the CD. Those of us who buy a second-hand
computer and find MS Works already on it have no way to
remove it.

Thanks Kevin but Microsoft directs you to obtain a file from
their download page called Wks2kll.exe (that's for removing
Works2000 from Win98 - different files for other combos of
Works and Win), but the download page says it doesn't have
that file. So we're stuck.

Is there any way one can uninstall Works2000 by deleting the
program files and editing the registry? Or is that too
risky or likely to make other apps unstable?

Hi Alan,

It is possible to delete registry entries for Works, and delete
folders, but they are widespread and not always obvious ...

I've queried the new location of the removal tool (and others)
with Microsoft.
