Ctrl-A seemingly does NOT always select the "entire" Word document.

I've been using Microsoft apps for 27 years, and MS's attention to
detail, and the consistency with which it adheres to its own (don't
get me wrong--excellent) UI paradigms, is still for complete crap.

I have a little document loaded in Word 2002. All visible text is in
Times Roman. There are a couple of blank lines (CR-LFs) at the bottom
of the doc. When I type something at bottom (below the blanks), it
appears in Arial.

So, I think, fine. I'll simply press Ctrl-A to select the entire
document, then on the Main Menu select Format / Font, then select
Times Roman. Only trouble is, Times Roman is ALREADY selected,
indicating that Word wrongly thinks the entire doc is already IN Times
Roman. Which if were true, Arial would never appear.

So, for the thousandth time with Microflot products, I had to don my
goddamned Stanley Livingstone pith helmet and Go Empirical. BOOM boom
boom boom, BOOM boom boom boom...

With the entire doc selected, I changed the font to something else. I
exited the Font dialog. I re-entered the Font dialog. I re-selected
Times Roman.

Voila. This time, input at doc bottom conformed to the text above and
was in Times Roman.

Of course, I'm one of the lucky ones. I'm bright, PC-savvy, know how
to be resourceful, and am willing to try work-arounds.

You must have this forum confused with the "Whine about Micorosft
Forum." Did you have a question? I would love to see a copy of your
document because I have never seen a failure with [Ctrl][a]. I've done
a little searching since first reading your post and I can't find
other complaints about this same issue.
