I am a new Word user and trying to make a table. I have typed in a heading
on my page, then opened Table menu & selected 'insert table' , selected my
rows and columns and then started typing. At the first line, I changed the
font size from 12 to 10. The first column was fine, stayed at 10 but when I
tabbed to the next column, it went back to 12. I can't figure where to
change it so it will stat at 10 for the whole document. If I select 'set as
default' it will make all tables be 10 font and i don't want that - just
want this one to be 10 font. Help?

Sherry,

If you make a style named tableheader, you can choose this for the first
line of the table where-after you go back to the old default style.
You have to choose this style for each new column in the table, or type
first all the headers. select them and change the style to tableheader.

Now how to make a new style:

F(ormat)
(S(tyles)
choose user-defined styles
Choose New
rename "style1" to the name you want example tableheader
change paragrah to character
choose format
font

choose your selection

When you want to use the style
go to the toolbar and look for the style tableheader in the popupmenu.

Thanks Charles - I have printed out your instructions. I'm not sure I like
this Word - every simple little memo or letter requires a zillion settings
be fixed. I had Works before and while it probably didn't do as much, it
suited me just fine. Thanks for replying. Sherry
