Hi there

I found that SOMETIMES my .dot file size is getting bigger and bigger,
once I edit it. No matter the codes are deleting or appending, the
size of the .dot will be increased.

How can I keep its size to be normal?

Thanks for any help.

You need a project cleaner - I have a good one which I can mail you if you
like.

Once you have your code the way you want it, copy all the forms,
modules, etc. to a new blank document (just drag them in in the VB
editor). This will decrease the size tremendously. I do this every
time I'm ready to release new templates.

Hope that helps,

Oh, I see! Thanks for your help. :)

BTW, (just for discussion) I found other MS product like MS Access
has the same problem which needs me to compact the code time to time.
Does it mean that all kinds of software development language,
including products other than MS, will produce such problem?

Best regards

The problem occurs throughout Office 97. I haven't used VBA except in O97,
so I don't know if it's universal. I consider it a bug and hope it's fixed
in Office 2000, but I haven't done any work with O2K to find out. It is
definitely not an inherent behavior of development languages in general.

BTW, there are freeware add-ins for Word & Excel that compact templates
automatically, except that they can't compact the built-in class modules.
You can d/l them from http://www.payneconsulting.com
