Some Microsoft Word newsgroups have been added, and some dropped
by Microsoft.

The newsgroup microsoft.public.word.mac where you posted
is one of these orphan newsgroups.

It was discontinued by Microsoft on the main host server, msnews.microsoft.com,
but a number of ISPs don't update their listings often so the group continues
to show messages on some ISPs but never on the host server,
(Microsoft in this case) of any discontinued group.
http://wwww.dejanews.com and http:/www.reference.com that store
archives of newsgroups will show messages on orhpans as well.

The current active groups for MacWord users on the public
msnews.microsoft.com server are

microsoft.public.word.macword5-6
microsoft.public.word.macword98

If your ISP is still carrying this group (as CompuServe is)
and is not carrying the new groups let them know they need
to update, or use the Microsoft public news server directly.

There are also recent chnages to the Microsoft Word newsgroups
on macro support and other issues.

These groups were discontinued by Microsoft, so they're orphans:
GONE:
microsoft.public.word.general
microsoft.public.word.programming
microsoft.public.word.dos
microsoft.public.word.wordbasic
microsoft.public.word.vba
microsoft.public.word.mac
microsoft.public.word.nonwindows

[If you're reading this message in one of these groups - ask your
ISP to drop it and to add the new microsoft word groups]

These groups were added in April and May:
NEW:
microsoft.public.word.word6-7macros
microsoft.public.word.word97vba
microsoft.public.word.macword5-6
microsoft.public.word.macword98

These then are the current microsoft Word related newsgroups
on the msnews.microsoft.com public (home) news server and
the list your ISP should be carrying to be current for these topics.
You can use these groups directly on msnews.microsoft.com server.

microsoft.public.word.applicationerrors
microsoft.public.word.conversions
microsoft.public.word.docmanagement
microsoft.public.word.drawing-graphics
microsoft.public.word.formattinglongdocs
microsoft.public.word.internetassistant
microsoft.public.word.macword5-6
microsoft.public.word.macword98
microsoft.public.word.mailmergefields
microsoft.public.word.numbering
microsoft.public.word.oleinterop
microsoft.public.word.pagelayout
microsoft.public.word.printingfonts
microsoft.public.word.setupnetworking
microsoft.public.word.spelling-grammar
microsoft.public.word.tables
microsoft.public.word.word6-7macros
microsoft.public.word.word97vba

Non-English languge Word newsgroups

microsoft.public.de.word
microsoft.public.fr.word
microsoft.public.il.hebrew.word
