I am trying to create a table of contents for a document
that is divided into sections (pages are numbered 1-1, 1-
2, ..., 2-1, 2-2, ...). When I create the initial table
of contents, the numbers for the first section get
changed. In order to fix this, I have to cut and paste
the TOC to a separate document, and then change the first
few numbers so they match the first section. So far, so
good, until I try to convert it to a PDF or print it.
Every time I try a print feature, it tries to update the
page number fields, which results in "Error! - Bookmark
not defined" errors. This happens even when I have the
update fields check box turned off in the Print tab under
Tools, Options. I have looked everywhere for another
setting that could be triggering the page number field
update, but I couldn't find any. Does anyone out there
know how to alleviate this problem? Better yet, does
anyone know how to manipulate the section breaks in the
main document itself so I don't have to copy the table of
contents to a new document? Any info you can give will be
very much appreciated.

Hi Derek,

After you copy the table of contents to another doc, unlink the fields
before printing using something like this..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ActiveDocument.Fields.Unlink
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope it helps,
Cameron
